iciHaiti - Covid-19 : Official sanitary measures of the Catholic Church
In this period of Covid-19 pandemic, the Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH) has taken health measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and ensure the protection of the health of the faithful and celebrants, among others :

The CEH asked parish priests to organize in order to respect the physical distance of at least 1.50m between each faithful. He also asked that places of worship limit their capacity to 1/3 of the space devoted.

The CEH considers that the number of celebrations must be increased by allowing sufficient time between each ceremony to disinfect the premises and all the objects used in the celebration. The liturgical linen must be changed.

The CEH asks priests during preaching, the Eucharistic consecration and communion to wear a mask and to respect distance. The hands of the Eucharistic Ministers must be washed before giving communion and the faithful will receive the host in hand.

The CEH prohibits the embraces at the time of the kiss of peace as well as the procession of offerings.

The Episcopal Conference demands that all the faithful wear a mask within the enclosure of the place of worship and obliges those responsible for the time to make available alcohol-based solutions for the benefit of the faithful.

As part of rituals for celebrations such as baptism, only the parents and the priest will make the sign of the cross on the child's forehead. The number of people who will receive the sacrament of confirmation will be reduced. The bishops urge officials of the funeral home and the family to respect sanitary principles requesting that the coffin be placed to respect a great distance from the altar.
