iciHaiti - Obituary : Death of journalist Hougan Jean-Jacques Dieudonné

The National Confederation of Haitian Vaudouisants (Konfederasyon Nasyonal Vodouizan Ayisyen - KNVA) has just lost a worthy son with the passing away of the voodoo priest Jean-Jacques Dieudonné Jean Jacques Dieudonné, aka "jeanjean hougan" journalist-writer, host among others of the program "Vodou Lakay" and "Rasin Lakay" on the National Radio of Haiti (RNH).

It is a terrible shock for the Ministry of Culture and Communication to learn of this sudden death, Friday January 15, 2021 as a result of a malaise, in Miragoâne, in Nippes, just after attending the funeral of her beau dad.

Between 2006 and 2012, at the National Television of Haiti (TNH) and at the RNH, Jean Jacques Dieudonné was a tireless and devoted collaborator of the current Minister Pradel Henriquez, who was at the time Director General of these public service media.

Minister Henriquez recalls that "[...] 'JeanJean Hougan', as he commonly called him, was a staunch defender of voodoo, very involved in the process of inter-Haitian dialogue through his organization, the KNVA of which he was the spokesperson.

Jovial man, of a good trade, of a very great natural kindness, a real colossus, he occupied the microphone of the Haitian Educational and Cultural Network (105.3 FM) from 2004 to his sudden death this week. Is this how men die...?

Father of several children, Jean Jacques Dieudonné was a staunch defender of voodoo, the values of which he popularized with a strange passion [...]

It is a huge loss for the voodoo sector and for the press in particular with which he developed a frank camaraderie. Unanimously respected in the voodoo industry, Dieudonné Jean Jacques was appreciated above all for his essential reference in traditional medicine, thanks to his in-depth knowledge of the properties of leaves [...]

[...] Minister Henriquez while bowing to his remains, presents his condolences to the family of Jean Jacques Dieudonné, as well as to Mrs. Euvronie G. Auguste, his immediate collaborator within the KNVA, to the staff of the Radio Nationale d'Haiti, the RNH, and cultural journalists saddened by this mourning."
