iciHaiti - France : 11 million euros for the Haitian Fund for Biodiversity

The French Embassy announces that as part of a new partnership, the French Development Agency (AFD) will endow the Haitian Biodiversity Fund (FHB) with an amount of 11 million euros. An example of actions promoted by the "Solidarity Development" Law, sponsored by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean Yves Le Drian, underlines the Embassy.

These funds will ensure a regular and permanent supply of resources that will support the action of Haitian actors whose mission is to protect the environment and biodiversity. These new resources will also help strengthen the administrative functioning of the FBH.

The Embassy of France in Port-au-Prince recalls that many Haitian families depend heavily on the quality of the environment for food, work and a living (fishermen, farmers, breeders), which is why AFD has makes the environment one of its priority intervention sectors in Haiti.
