iciHaiti - Petit-Goâve : Police repression during the 2nd day of the lawyers' demonstration 24/02/2021 08:45:06
Strong tensions at the bottom of Morne Tapion between the police and the demonstrators following, a first time to an altercation and a second time when the demonstrators tried to block the national road #2 with stones and a piece of wood post. Police used tear gas and unidentified protesters responded with stone throws. Journalist photographer Wilson Norré was hit by a tear gas canister on the left side, journalist and lawyer Marie José took cover by lying down on her stomach to protect herself. Angry fellow lawyers lay on the ground to protest the behavior of the police, condemning police brutality, insulting law enforcement officers, accusing them of being an accomplice to the bandits... Protesters threw stones again and police fired into the air to disperse the crowd and regain control of the situation.
