James CADET, the new Minister of the Environment met with the Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) Wen-Jiann KU with the aim of taking stock of bilateral cooperation in environmental matters.

During this meeting, Minister CADET and Ambassador KU evaluated ongoing projects, including the installation project of solar energy water pumping systems. In this last case James CADET drew the attention of Ambassador KU, on the importance of a transfer of knowledge to the members of the local structures in charge of the management of the pumping systems which are installed across the country underlining "the sustainability of this project depends greatly on the ability of local officials to manage and maintain these systems."

The two men also explored other avenues of cooperation important for the roadmap of the Minister of the Environment and agreed to stay in permanent contact in order to continue discussions on strengthening this very important partnership for the environment sector in Haiti.
