This week during a virtual meeting between Charlot Brédy the Minister of Agriculture and his team with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), representatives of the Inter-American Institute Cooperation for Agriculture (IICA) and experts on African swine fever in Haiti, the Minister Brédy confirmed his support by making a team available to work together with this group of experts.

The mission of the experts aims to provide support to veterinary services and assessment of the disease situation, improve awareness and risk communication for targeted groups, among others.

The mission's experts will visit slaughterhouses, will make a laboratory diagnosis, meet pig farmers and veterinarians and visit the Haitian-Dominican border.

FAO renews its support to the Ministry of Agriculture in preparing an adequate response to the threat in the country of African Swine Fever.
