iciHaiti - Politic : Prime Minister Henry launches the school year
Tuesday September 21, 2021 Prime Minister ai Ariel Henry proceeded to the Argentine Bellegarde School (Lalue), to the launch of the school year 2021-2022 in the presence in particular of Mrs. Lucie Joseph, Minister of National Education, of Jean Emmanuel Jacquet, the Minister of Culture, other personalities and many students.

"It is with great emotion that I preside over this ceremony to launch the 2021-2022 school year. It is special since today only students from 7 of the 10 departments of the country are affected by the start of the school year of September 21, 2021.

Let's recall that due to the major earthquake of August 14 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34681-haiti-earthquake-latest-assessment-of-civil-protection.html , the students of the department of Grand'Anse, Nippes and South can only return to school on October 4 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34788-haiti-flash-new-school-calendar-revised-2021-2022-official.html

"I would like to pay a strong and well-deserved tribute to the parents of students from our seven geographical departments concerned by the start of the school year today, who have made the necessary effort, in this difficult environment, to meet this educational meeting," continued Henry

'Chapo ba pou tout paran elèv sa yo !'

[...]

I could not end without evoking the memory attached to this very special school, where blood flowed on November 29, 1987. I pay a heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives there, ballots in hand."

Léon Charles, the Commander-in-Chief of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), salutes the efforts made by parents to allow their children to find their way back to school.

He recalls that the police "through its various units are mobilized to guarantee the safety and protection of all citizens and particularly the students who represent the future of the country."
