iciHaiti - RD : Resumption of works of the Massacre River irrigation canal
Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in his official residence, Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, chaired a working meeting on the status of major agricultural projects across the country.

It was an opportunity for Henry to set the priorities of his Administration in this area.

He called among other things for the finalization and operationalization, as soon as possible, of the works of the Marion Dam, in the North-East https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-34815-icihaiti-marion-dam-important-mission-of-the-dinepa.html . He decided to maintain all projects financed by the Public Treasury ensuring that other resources will be mobilized for the completion of priority projects in the agricultural sector.

In addition, he confirmed that the Government also intends to continue work on the irrigation canal collecting water from the Massacre River, stopped in early August 2021, the cost of which is estimated at around 50 million gourdes. A politically sensitive project and a source of great tension with the Dominican Republic due to disputes over the interpretation of the treaties signed between the two Nations.
