iciHaiti - India : Towards the digital safeguard of written Haitian heritage
Saturday, October 30, 2021, Jean Emmanuel Jacquet Minister of Culture participated in a high-level virtual working session between the authorities of the Republic of Haiti and the Republic of India, involved in the field of preservation and safeguarding of written documentary heritage.

This working session, carried out at the initiative of the Permanent Delegation of Haiti to UNESCO and the National Library of Haiti is in line with the objective of providing technical assistance and appropriate resources to Haiti, as part of the project to digitize and safeguard documentary heritage, in particular the written heritage linked to traditional medicine, in danger following the earthquake of August 14, 2021.

The meeting brought together among others: the Minister of Culture of India, Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi; the Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of India to UNESCO, Vishal Sharma; the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Haiti to UNESCO, Ms. Dominique Dupuy; the Directors General of the National Archives, of the National Library and of the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage (ISPAN), the Head of the Unit of the digital library of traditional knowledge Ms. Viswajanani J. Sattigeri; technical executives from the Haitian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO and the two Haitian and Indian delegations.
