Sandra Jacques MICHEL SAINT GEORGES, the new Secretary of State for Literacy (SEA) leading a delegation, spoke this week with Luis Castillo CAMPOS, the Cuban Ambassador to Haiti at his official residence.

The objective of this meeting was to revitalize the cooperation between Cuba and Haiti in the field of literacy and to consider new mechanisms to be put in place for a better continuation of this cooperation.

Ambassador CAMPOS was in favor of better cooperation between Haiti and Cuba, which, according to him, will lead to significant and lasting results in the perspective of education for all and the eradication of illiteracy in Haiti.

In addition, the Secretary of State, aware of the difficult socio-political and health situation, believes that new mechanisms must be considered to enable this crisis situation to be transformed into an opportunity for the education of young people and adults.

In conclusion, Ms. MICHEL SAINT GEORGES welcomed the arrangement made by Ambassador CAMPOS for the follow-up to the meeting with the Cuban Government. While awaiting the results of the monitoring, with a view to making the necessary inputs for the realization of the 10th stage of the campaign, she announced the start of planning, institutional strengthening and development of the New Literacy Policy.
