The Technical Secretariat of the Haitian-Dominican Mixed Bilateral Commission (CMB) organized this week at the Kinam Hotel, a workshop on improving the reception of Haitian migrants repatriated from the Dominican Republic, in collaboration with the National Office of Migration (ONM) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

More than sixty people representing public and private institutions, international organizations, diplomatic missions, civil society organizations as well as experts in Haitian-Dominican relations and border actors concerned by the migration issue took part in this workshop.

The objectives revolved around the collection of information and proposals from the actors concerned by the theme of migration in order to revise the current reception conditions for Haitian migrants at the Haitian-Dominican border.

The necessary improvements to reception facilities such as transport, reception capacity, hygiene services, psychosocial support, care for pregnant women and unaccompanied minors were discussed.

Other points were also discussed, in particular the establishment of a policy for the social integration of migrants and the convergence of the actions of the various actors.
