Sunday as part of Mother's Day, Sofia Loréus the Minister for the Status of Women inaugurated a call center against gender-based violence, funded by the European Union and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as part of the "Spotlight" initiative through UNFPA-Haiti

This free online assistance centre, which can be reached at number 8919, will be accessible nationwide 24 /7. Its objective is to collect the grievances of women and girls who are victims of violence and to support them.

"Together, let's fight, men and women, to put an end to violence against women and girls in Haiti," urged the UNFPA Representative in Haiti, Kaboré Saidou, on behalf of the Resident Coordinator a.i. of the United Nations System in Haiti.
