On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, the crew of a US Coast Guard ship repatriated 67 illegal Haitian migrants, men, women and minors, to Cap-Haitien.

After being spotted by the crew of the Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk air station, the Haitians were intercepted about 16 miles southeast of Great Inagua, Bahamas.

The crew of the US Coast Guard vessel Confidence arrived on the scene and reported that the small sailboat was excessively overloaded, with torn sails and people calling for help.

"The Coast Guard and our partners will continue to vigilantly patrol, detect, intercept and deter unsafe voyages," said Lt. Connor Ives, Coast Guard District Seven.

From January 1 to June 2022 (6 months) Coast Guard crews intercepted and repatriated 4,375 Haitian migrants (more than 10 times more than in 2017) and almost 3 times more than in 2021...
