Last week, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) unveiled the characteristics and security elements of the new 25 Gourdes note put on the national market.

Characteristics:

On the front of the banknote, there is the effigy of Nicolas Geffrard (1762-1806), the latter considered one of the heroes of the War and signatory of the Act of Independence. His son Guillaume Fabre Nicolas Geffrard, became the first president born after independence, he was president of Haiti from 1859-1867.

On the back is the Forteresse des Platons located in Ducis in Les Cayes, southern Haiti. The Fortress of the Platons, is one of the many vestiges of the fortifications built by the Haitians.

Security elements:

On the front is the pronounced intaglio portrait with embedded micro text at the lower left.

On the back there is a windowed, machine-readable security thread bearing the text "BRH" visible through transparency.

The BRH asks the Haitian population to be vigilant so as not to take counterfeit notes that could be in circulation.
