Charles Jacquena alias "Zayann or Z" the leader of the "Yo pap ka ladan" gang specializing in motorcycle theft, hijacking of goods trucks, kidnapping, robbery and rape controlling Canaan 4 and 5, was mortally wounded in an exchange of fire with the police in the Karade area.

Charles Jacquena alias "Zayann or Z" had come to collect a ransom from the driver of the goods truck he had hijacked on the road to Canaan, when the police intervened to arrest him. "Zayann" to cover his escape opened fire on the police who replied fatally.

"Zayann" was also implicated in various murders including among others a chicken seller at Kanaran station, the murder of policeman Henry Marc Willians in the Kanaran area and the murder of Azy Ifania at his home in Kanaran 4 on April 12, 2022...
