According to a poll conducted earlier this year by UNICEF-Haiti entitled "Child marriage and early unions" young Haitians were asked if it was acceptable for adolescent girls to have relationships with men aged 5 to 10 older than them.

To this question where 5,078 young people answered through the U-Report platform, 61% felt that it was not acceptable; 27% said they were in favor of such a relationship and 12% said they did not know.

The 20-24 year olds constitute the largest segment of the participants, i.e. 44%, the 25-30 year olds 23% and the 15-19 year olds at 22%. 52% of respondents were girls and 48% of boys.

Let's remember that U-Report is a digital tool, free and anonymous, developed by UNICEF which encourages young people to civic participation and facilitates the participation of young people in social and political dialogue through surveys sent to their phones via Facebook messenger. This platform had approximately 78,280 members at the end of August.
