iciHaiti - NOTICE : Security alert from the American embassy

The United States Embassy in Port-au-Prince has issued a security alert :
"The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince will conduct limited operations on February 5, due to the possibility of traffic disruptions and protests in the area. Appointments for routine and emergency services to U.S. citizens will be honored, but applicants may choose to request that their appointments be rescheduled by emailing : acspap@state.gov. All visa appointments are canceled and will be rescheduled. »
Among precautionary measures, the Embassy urges people to avoid the area; avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people; not to cross roadblocks; and if they encounter a roadblock, to turn around and move to a safe area.
