iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : Upcoming start of rehabilitation works on the international port
As part of the official start of works, representatives of NH Global, the construction firm responsible for executing the rehabilitation project of the International Port of Cap-Haïtien, met Pierre Richard Joseph, the Port Director, to discuss the latest details linked to the deployment of the firm on the site

Following this meeting in which Representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) and the Terminal Operator also participated, a site visit was carried out to assess the progress of the evacuation works of the main areas which will be subject to demolition as part of the execution of the rehabilitation financed to the tune of 24 million US dollars.

The work, which will last 18 months, includes a new administrative building of 760 m2 on one level; the expansion and securing of the container park; improving access to the bulk dock and lighting. The installation of a new 1MW generator; a fresh water fire fighting system; a new toilet block; the renovation of the harbor master’s building; a new modular customs office; new access barriers, control booths, a security fence, cameras and solar perimeter lighting.

The objective of this modernization will allow more frequent and efficient exports from the Caracol Industrial Park, which currently pass through the Dominican Republic, due to greater reliability and security procedures for exports to the USA via the accelerated "Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism" system.

The laying of the first stone is planned for the end of May 2024 and will end in December 2026.
