iciHaiti - Environment : Joseph Vernet, a Ministry executive promoted to Minister

Joseph Vernet, the Minister of Agriculture, this week installed Moïse Jean Pierre as the new Minister of the Environment in the presence of James Cadet (outgoing Minister), Engineer Astrel Joseph, Director General of the Ministry, technical directors and executives of the Ministry, as well as relatives and friends of the new Minister.

In his speech for the occasion, Minister Jean Pierre, who said he was aware of the heavy responsibility incumbent on him, expressed his gratitude to all those who support him in this mission, in particular employees of the Ministry, ecological organizations and technical and financial partners. He highlighted the considerable challenges they face and affirmed his commitment to leaving future generations a preserved environment and a more just and equitable society.

A civil engineer by training, Moïse Jean-Pierre Fils, has nearly 30 years of experience (1994-2024), within the Ministry of the Environment, specializing in the environment, climate change, disaster management and humanitarian affairs. Throughout his career at the Ministry he held various positions : cabinet member, technical advisor and independent consultant. He has held several influential positions, including Director of the Living Environment and Sanitation Department, Director of the Climate Change Department, and served as focal point for international environmental conventions and funds.
