iciHaiti - Justice : The CPT met with the Superior Council of the Judicial Power
The members of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) Emmanuel Vertilaire, Louis Gérald Gilles and Smith Augustin held a working session with the members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).

Councilor Emmanuel Vertilaire praised the courage of the magistrates who, despite precarious conditions, continue to serve the population. Furthermore, he hoped that magistrates would do their best in order to have an efficient and fair judicial system.

Presidential Advisor Smith Augustin requested a detailed report on the functioning of the judicial system and the presentation of the CSPJ budget before the budget conference.

Councilor Louis Gérald Gilles thanked the CSPJ, presented the current problems and pleaded for an increase in the salaries of magistrates.

The CPT Advisors asked the CSPJ for a document detailing the problems of the judicial system.

Another working session is planned with the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Justice and Finance and the CSPJ with a view to ruling on the various problems facing the judicial system, in particular the dysfunction of certain courts and the low budget allocated at the CSPJ.
