According to the latest forecasts, the passage of a low-pressure area toward the southern Caribbean Sea is causing rain and thunderstorm activity in several departments over the weekend. Given the amount of rain already fallen and the rain expected through Sunday, the UHM has issued a flood warning for the North, Northeast, West, Southeast, and Grand'Anse departments. The Permanent Secretariat for Risk Management of the General Directorate of Civil Protection urges all residents living in areas that have already received heavy rains to remain vigilant against the threat of flooding. Some tips to follow : • Always be informed of weather conditions; • Avoid walking near rivers or on mountaintops; • Avoid going to the sea; • Do not cross waterfalls on foot, in a car, or by bicycle; • Do not stand on bridges or next to rivers to watch the water flow; • Put all important documents in a waterproof bag and store it in a waterproof location; • Listen to the radio to find out how the situation is developing.
