iciHaiti - Social : Fifty police officers trained in sign language
In May, approximately fifty police officers and administrative staff received sign language training. This initiative was initiated by the Haitian National Police's (PNH) Welfare Directorate (DBE) in conjunction with the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), with the aim of strengthening the sign language skills of police personnel.

This training, led by Professors Pierre Hedruche and Fenel Bellegarde, will enable police officers to adopt professional and appropriate behavior when assisting people with disabilities, particularly those who are deaf.

In a calm and educational atmosphere, participants acquired solid knowledge and skills in sign language, which will enable them to communicate easily with deaf or hard-of-hearing people when needed. At the end of this training, Génard Joseph, the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, and Divisional Commissioner Kesnel Pierre, Head of the PNH's Well-Being Directorate, presented a certificate to each participant.

It should be noted that the PNH, through the DBE, is committed to playing its part in facilitating the inclusion and integration of persons with disabilities into society in accordance with the requirements of Haitian law.
