iciHaiti - DR : 30,000 Haitians repatriated on average each month

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) revealed that during the month of July 2025, 31,462 Haitians in an irregular migration situation were repatriated or expelled as part of the border control strengthening plan.

Of this total, 19,556 people were repatriated from processing centers located in Haina, Dajabón, and Santiago, and 11,906 people were intercepted in the border area and expelled through the border crossings of Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní, and Pedernales, as part of regular operations carried out in coordination with the armed forces and civilian authorities.

Since the beginning of this year, the DGM has maintained an average of over 30,000 repatriations per month.

During the month of July, the DGM integrated 400 new rapid action officers, deployed in 19 provinces to strengthen its institutional presence in areas of high migratory mobility. In addition, 400 other officers began training, with the goal of soon joining the program in 12 provinces and two strategic municipalities, including areas of environmental importance and mountainous areas. DGM officers receive multidisciplinary training, including legal, operational, and human rights training, to professionalize their conduct throughout the country. This training aims to ensure responsible actions, while respecting due process and the dignity of each individual.

Priority districts include Constanza, Jarabacoa, San Cristóbal, La Romana, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Plata, Puerto Plata, Samaná, Azua, Peravia, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, El Seibo, and San Pedro de Macorís.

To ensure operational continuity, permanent DGM units will be installed in these locations to expedite immigration procedures, optimize resources, and reduce response times to irregular migration situations, all in strict compliance with current regulations.
