iciHaiti - OFATMA : Health Insurance Program for UEH Students
On Friday, November 8, 2025, in the presence of Georges Wilbert Franck, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Agronomist Vikerson Garnier, Director General of the Office of Occupational Accident, Illness, and Maternity Insurance (OFATMA), and Dieuseul Prédélus, Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH), signed a Memorandum of Understanding enabling UEH students to benefit from OFATMA insurance coverage.

This initiative marks a historic turning point in the expansion of medical coverage in Haiti. For the first time, students at the State University will benefit from formal health insurance, guaranteeing them access to quality care, coverage in case of accidents, and comprehensive social support.

"This partnership reflects OFATMA’s commitment to innovation in its interventions and to expanding the scope of social protection for the benefit of young people, the pillars of national development," emphasized Vikerson Garnier at the ceremony.

The agreement aligns with the Government’s vision of strengthening social safety nets and promoting inclusive public health. Thanks to this program, thousands of students will now have access to medical coverage and social support, thus contributing to their well-being and academic success.

This collaboration between OFATMA and UEH opens new perspectives for cooperation between public institutions and the academic world. It is destined to become a model of social and health integration for the entire country.
