iciHaiti - FLASH : Postponement of the official launch of the Jacmel Carnival
Bendgy Tilias, the Secretary of State for Communication, informs the public, cultural stakeholders, and all national and international partners that the official launch of the Carnival season is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026. Starting on this date, several pre-Carnival activities will be organized throughout the country to energize the festive and cultural spirit. The theme chosen for the 2026 edition is "Ayiti Devan ! Haïti Devant !" (Haiti Forward ! Haiti Ahead !).

The Ministry calls upon all cultural institutions, Carnival associations, citizens, and visitors to participate in the planned activities and to make Carnival 2026 a national celebration of sharing and creativity.

Jacmel Breaking News : Following the Government's announcement of the launch of the carnival season, Loudie César, Deputy Mayor of Jacmel, in collaboration with the Jacmel Carnival Committee, informs the residents of Jacmel and those involved in the carnival that the official launch of the Jacmel Carnival, initially scheduled for January 11, 2026 (https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-46576-icihaiti-jacmel-official-launch-of-the-2026-carnival-season-calendar.html), has been postponed to Sunday, January 18, 2026. This is to ensure alignment with the national calendar and better coordination of carnival season activities.

The Jacmel City Hall and the Carnival Committee request the understanding of all stakeholders and partners and ask them to suspend all activities initially planned for January 11th to animate the streets as part of the carnival, in order to comply with the Government's announcement.
