iciHaiti - Obituary : Death of Dieudonné Larose, the Nation pays tribute
On Friday, January 9, 2026, the renowned Haitian singer Dieudonné Larose, hospitalized in Laval, Quebec for several months, passed away at the age of 80. He leaves behind a major legacy of konpa and socially conscious music. He notably collaborated with the groups Missile 727 and DP Express and recorded landmark songs such as "Mandela", "Haïti" "Roro" and "Lanmou fou". Originally from Port-au-Prince, Dieudonné Larose spent his final years in Canada.

In a statement, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé expressed his sadness and recalled : "Through the nobility of his voice, the depth of his interpretation, and the scope of his work, Dieudonné Larose transcended eras and left a lasting mark on the cultural consciousness of the nation. His art, imbued with authenticity and sensitivity, remains a major reference point in Haitian musical heritage and a symbol of the creative genius of our people."

In respectfully honoring the memory of this exceptional artist, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé pays tribute to the exemplary career of a man who so eloquently carried the spirit of Haiti, both at home and beyond its borders.

In these moments of profound sadness, the Head of Government, on behalf of the State and the Haitian people, extends his deepest condolences to the family of Dieudonné Larose, his loved ones, his devoted fans, and the entire artistic and cultural community.

The Nation has lost a great servant of culture. His work, however, will endure and continue to inspire future generations.
