Haiti - PNH : Weapons Seizure

Following the arrest on January 13, 2026, in the Grand'Anse department of Jean Misnord (36 years old), alias "Fado" presented as the 2nd or 3rd leader of Simon Pelé's gang, a search based on his statements was conducted by a team from the Grand'Anse Departmental Judicial Police Service. This operation led to the location and seizure of weapons he had hidden in his hideouts.

The seized items included an AR-15 type semi-automatic rifle (precursor to the M16 assault rifle), a magazine containing nine rounds, two mobile phones, identification documents in the name of the gang leader, and jewelry. These items were placed under seal as evidence.

In parallel, a targeted operation carried out in Beaumont, based on information provided by Misnord, resulted in the seizure of another rifle. The investigation is actively continuing to locate other weapons and potential hiding places, particularly in the Cassanette area.

An investigation is underway to identify Fado's accomplices and locate all his hiding places, in order to seize the remaining weapons and ammunition.
