iciHaiti - Canada : Ambassador Des Sources spoke with the MP for Vanier-Ottawa

Anthony Desources, Haiti’s Ambassador to Canada, received a delegation this week led by Mona Fortier, Member of Parliament for Vanier–Ottawa and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada.

Accompanied by two Global Affairs Canada officials responsible for the Haiti file, the MP and the Ambassador explored, during this courtesy visit, the prospects for increased Canadian support for Haiti’s stabilization efforts.

Discussions also focused on issues related to the Haitian community in Canada, particularly in Ottawa, with which Ms. Fortier emphasized the excellent relationship she maintains. She also shared with Anthony Desources a document prepared by the Canadian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development concerning the situation in Haiti.

During the visit, the Ambassador expressed his hope that Canada would support Haiti, particularly in the area of electoral logistics. For her part, the MP clearly reaffirmed Canada’s support for Haiti.
