On Friday, February 20, 2026, women detained at Fort-Liberté prison took a significant step forward in their social reintegration process. They officially began their vocational training with an initial course organized within the prison, in collaboration with Entr’Elles Haiti, a Haitian NGO, and with the support of the French Embassy in Haiti.

Of the 19 inmates registered at the prison, 15 participated in this first training session. The courses offered—event decoration, nail care, and liquid soap making—aim to equip these women with practical and immediately applicable skills, thus promoting their economic independence and reintegration into society.

This first training session was held in the presence of Josenie Ferdinand Jean, the Northeast Departmental Director, accompanied by members of the NGO Entr’Elles and several officials from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs.

Through this initiative, the Ministry for the Status of Women reaffirms its commitment to promoting the empowerment of women, including those in detention, and to contributing to the building of a more inclusive, just, and equitable society.
