On Saturday, March 7, 2026, a team of investigators from the Departmental Service of the Judicial Police of the North (SDPJ/North) who had gone to Mazerre, in the municipality of Quartier-Morin (Dept. Nord), accompanied by Adoram St Fleurant and surveyor Fedenel Jemelus, as part of an operation to secure a surveying activity in the area, were targeted as soon as they arrived, by heavily armed individuals.

The police officers returned fire. During the exchange of gunfire, three unidentified armed individuals were fatally wounded. Among other items seized were two handguns, one 9mm and the other a .38 caliber, some ammunition, several land survey documents attributed to Miguel Jean Pierre, alias "Alex" and three cell phones.

According to information gathered from local residents, the individuals neutralized were members of the gang led by Miguel Jean Pierre, alias "Alex" who reportedly fled before the arrival of law enforcement.
