iciHaiti - Construction Sites : The Ministry of Public Works in Action

On Monday, March 9, 2026, Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, the new Minister of Public Works (MTPTC), and the Tabarre City Hall signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the rehabilitation, within three months, of the Carrefour Rita / Carrefour BIM road, a crucial section for mobility in this area of the metropolitan region.

This partnership aligns with the vision of government synergy championed by Prime Minister Fils-Aimé, which encourages cooperation between the central government and local authorities to accelerate the implementation of projects that benefit citizens.

In conjunction with the signing of this agreement, several projects were launched on Monday, March 9, in various areas of the capital, including:

• Rue Lamarre and Avenue John Brown: cleaning and waste removal during the construction work;

• Carrefour Lalue / Rue Lamarre: cleaning operations;

• Avenue de la République (Piyay Market area): cleaning and waste removal.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) is continuing to implement concrete actions aimed at improving road infrastructure and strengthening the resilience of public works across the country.

Several projects are currently being carried out by the ministry's departmental directorates:

The Southern Departmental Directorate (DDS/MTPTC) has undertaken temporary rehabilitation work on the Les Cayes/Port-Salut road section, specifically in the Croix-des-Martyres area of the Torbeck municipality.

The Northern Departmental Directorate (DDN/MTPTC) has launched intervention work on the Vertières ravine. Technical teams have notably begun dredging operations in the Couleuvres ravine to reduce the risk of flooding and improve water flow in this area.
