2026 World Cup : The PNH strengthens its security measures 12/06/2026 09:00:53
As part of a strategic plan implemented by the Haitian National Police (PNH) in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, Inspector General Jacques Joël Orival, Central Director of Administrative Police (DCPA), held an important meeting on June 10, 2026, with the heads of the DDO1 and DDO2 jurisdictions, several police stations, including those in Delmas and Port-au-Prince, and the heads of specialized units. This meeting aimed to strengthen security measures to ensure the protection of the population during this major international sporting event. On this occasion, formal instructions were given to the various officials to secure areas likely to host large gatherings of people. They were also asked to maintain fixed checkpoints on roads deemed sensitive and to intensify preventive patrols throughout the affected area. Furthermore, the PNH is working to strengthen its strategic plan for combating kidnappings and is urging officers to be extra vigilant throughout the competition period in order to prevent any attempt to disrupt public order that might be orchestrated by malicious individuals. In this regard, recently graduated officers from the 36th class have already been deployed to several strategic highways. These new officers are reinforcing the existing security measures. Through all these measures, the Haitian National Police reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety of the population, maintaining public order, and neutralizing criminal groups. IH/ iciHaiti
