2026 World Cup : Message from Minister Dumas on the occasion of the Grenadiers' first match

2026 World Cup : Message from Minister Dumas on the occasion of the Grenadiers' first match

Pythagoras Dumas, Minister of Youth and Sports, wishes to express his gratitude to all Haitians, wherever they may be, for their exemplary conduct before, during, and after the match between our Grenadiers and Scotland on Saturday, June 13, 2026, which ended in a narrow defeat [1-0].

Minister Dumas extends his warmest congratulations to the Grenadiers, who proudly defended our national colors and, inspired by the fervor of the entire nation, demonstrated remarkable patriotism and pride throughout this first match. On behalf of the Government, the Minister also congratulated all the organizations and individuals in the country involved, directly or indirectly, in the preparation and support of the national team for this major competition.

"Certainly, this defeat leaves a bitter taste. But it opens up promising prospects for our national team. Our Grenadiers have earned the respect of the entire football world. They have given us a concrete example that our resilience and unity can help us transcend even the greatest obstacles.

We must now do better against Brazil and Morocco. Because after this first battle lost, the war continues. As coach Sébastien Migné so aptly put it, 'The Brazilian mountain is before us. Let’s rise to the occasion...' And as Grenadier and Sunderland AFC striker Wilson Isidor told the media, "Falling is allowed. Getting back up is mandatory...'

Friday, June 19, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. (Haiti time), this will not just be the national team’s fight. Let’s fill the stadiums, support our 26 ambassadors, and send them positive energy. This will be the fight of an entire nation. We are all Grenadiers !"
