During an official mission to Paris, the Minister of the Environment strengthened international cooperation in support of climate resilience and sustainable development.

At the World Conference of the International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development (IDSSD), held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Valéry Fils-Aimé, the Minister of the Environment, participated in two international panels and held numerous strategic meetings with officials from UNESCO, the City of Paris, and several partners.

During this World Conference, the Minister spoke twice at high-level panels dedicated to the role of science in sustainable development and international cooperation. He presented Haiti's environmental priorities and the Government's vision for climate resilience, ecological transition, and the mobilization of scientific knowledge for development.

Discussions with Abou Amani, Assistant Director-General for Science, led to the initiation of work on a future partnership for the "Science, Territories and Resilience" project.

With Qun Chen, Assistant Director-General for Education, discussions focused on strengthening the partnership with UNESCO in environmental education.

A meeting with Ms. Audrey Pulvar, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of international relations, also provided an opportunity to explore cooperation opportunities in the areas of waste management, strengthening the National Solid Waste Management Service (SNGRS), and improving living conditions.

The Haitian delegation also visited the Climate Academy to identify avenues for collaboration in environmental education, capacity building for the Directorate of Environmental Education (DERE), and the sharing of best practices.

During his mission, the Minister also gave several interviews to TV5 Monde, France 24, and RFI, highlighting Haiti's environmental priorities and the reforms undertaken by the Ministry.
