Hurricane season : 10 trucks of medicines and medical supplies to be pre-positioned

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Maïs-Gâté, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by Dr. Sinal Bertrand, Minister of Public Health, oversaw the departure of ten trucks carrying medicines and medical supplies destined for pre-positioning in various departments across the country in preparation for the hurricane season.

Minister Sinal emphasized that this operation was part of the government's emergency prevention and response strategy, funded by the Public Treasury. The shipments included medicines, hygiene products, beds, and various essential medical equipment.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring better access to healthcare, particularly for patients suffering from kidney failure. He noted that instructions had been issued to the General Directorate of Civil Protection to ensure a rapid and effective response in the event of severe weather.

He also announced the delivery, starting Tuesday, July 28, of new dialysis equipment to the northern and southern departments. Beginning in August, the cost of a dialysis session will be reduced to 4,000 and 5,000 gourdes, down from 15,000 gourdes previously, a measure intended to ease the financial burden on patients.
