On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Ministry of the Environment, through the National Ozone Bureau (BNO), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), officially launched the Intensive Certification Training Program (PFCI) in refrigeration and air conditioning.

This initiative will allow 60 young people from 12 camps for displaced persons in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, including 28 young women, to benefit from three months of intensive certification training in refrigeration and air conditioning.

This training will enable them to acquire technical skills that will facilitate their professional integration, while supporting Haiti's efforts toward more environmentally friendly technologies.

The ceremony was presided over by Valéry Fils-Aimé, Minister of the Environment, in the presence of Xavier Michon, UNDP Resident Representative in Haiti, David Cossy, Departmental Director for the West, as well as representatives of public institutions, technical partners, trainers, and the young beneficiaries.

In his address, Minister Fils-Aimé emphasized that this program reflects the Government's commitment to investing in youth by offering them concrete opportunities for training, employment, and self-reliance. He reiterated the commitment announced by the Prime Minister on World Environment Day to make youth a pillar of government action in support of sustainable and inclusive development.

For his part, the UNDP Resident Representative welcomed an initiative that will enable the country to strengthen national skills in the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors.

Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a certificate recognized by the National Institute for Vocational Training (INFP) as well as a toolkit to facilitate their entry into the job market.

Delivered by the Academy of Arts and Crafts (ACAM), this training will be implemented under the technical supervision of the National Ozone Bureau to ensure its compliance with the requirements of the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment.
