On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as part of the government's policy to assist and protect returning Haitian citizens, Pedrica St. Jean, Minister for the Status of Women, in collaboration with the National Migration Office (ONM), welcomed a group of Haitian nationals repatriated from the Bahamas at Cap-Haïtien International Airport.

A total of 61 Haitians, including 15 women and 46 men, arrived that morning. Upon disembarking, they were received by Minister St. Jean, who presented them, on behalf of the Haitian government, with a support package to help them meet their basic needs during their first days back in Haiti.

This intervention is part of a coordinated government response aimed at ensuring a dignified and humane welcome for repatriated individuals. To this end, psychological support and medical care, provided in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, have been put in place to facilitate their reintegration.

Concerned with the protection of vulnerable women, the Minister has also taken the necessary steps to ensure safe accommodation for women who are not from Cap-Haitien or who lack the means to house themselves. This measure aims to guarantee their safety, dignity, and protection during this transition period.

Furthermore, hot meals were distributed to all the compatriots received, demonstrating the Government's commitment to meeting the immediate needs of the repatriated individuals while promoting their reintegration in conditions that respect their dignity.
