On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Southeast Departmental Police Directorate paid tribute to officers from specialized units, including the Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG), the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO), and the Southeast Departmental Judicial Police Service (SDPJ Sud-East), for their bravery in the fight to retake Séguin following the attack perpetrated by armed groups last April.

During this ceremony, presided over by Divisional Commissioner Appolos Villette, Southeast Departmental Director, and assisted by his deputy, Chief Commissioner Mathias Jean David, plaques of honor and letters of commendation were presented to the officers to recognize their courage, professionalism, and commitment to fulfilling their mission in service to the public.

Speaking on behalf of the honored police officers, Bastien Novembre, Head of the UDMO (Departmental Unit for the Maintenance of Order), thanked the authorities for this distinction. He also reaffirmed the determination of law enforcement to continue their efforts to guarantee security in the department, while requesting the continued cooperation of the population in the fight against insecurity.

It should be noted that this tribute ceremony, demonstrating the determination of these officers in the Haitian National Police's (PNH) relentless fight against criminal groups, took place in the presence of Jude Pierre Michel Lafontant, the Departmental Delegate for the Southeast.
