On Friday, September 18, 2026, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJSAC) concluded the first part of its tour to assess sports infrastructure in the South Department in the city of Les Cayes.

The tour, led by Wilfince Mombrun, Director General of the Ministry, who was accompanied by members of Minister Pythagore Dumas's staff, began with a visit to the MJSAC's South Departmental Directorate (DDS-MJSAC), where the Director General had a productive discussion with the staff. This provided an opportunity for Berthin Bazelais, the Ministry's South Departmental Director, to present the challenges they face and the priority interventions for this directorate. After listening to and addressing all the concerns raised, Mombrun pledged to follow up on the submitted files and ensure that the identified priorities are effectively addressed.

The delegation then visited Larco Park, located in the city of Les Cayes. This is a major sports and socio-cultural complex with soccer, basketball, and volleyball fields, as well as a tennis court. The main areas of focus for intervention are the fencing, lighting, turf, and locker rooms. The delegation also visited Land des Gabions, also in Les Cayes. In this case, the priority work includes completing the conference room, rehabilitating the field, installing lighting, and ensuring compliance with current regulations.
