Launch of the DGI budget conferences

Launch of the DGI budget conferences

Chesnel Francois, Director General of the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI), launched the budget conferences this week. These meetings, the first of which date back more than a decade, aim to boost the performance of the DGI's operational units, including those responsible for assessing, calculating, and collecting taxes.

These budget conferences will continue until September 29, 2026. The administration's objective is to inform the various operational units of their allocated share of the revenue forecasts for the next fiscal year. This will then lead to a frank and open dialogue with the heads of support units regarding the necessary methods and resources to achieve these targets.

These budget conferences, overseen by the Directorate of Analysis and Statistics, were held in person this week for the Directors and senior managers of the central services' operational units, and online next week for the Directors and managers of the departmental directorates and provincial Tax Centers (CDI).

In his opening remarks, the Director General emphasized the responsibility of the various stakeholders, rigorous management, and the commitment of all, with the aim of improving the performance of the tax administration. He stressed the need to better identify and leverage tax potential, to take into account new circumstances, and to broaden the tax base.

Alfred Pierre, Deputy Director General, noted that the budget conferences provide a framework for assessing the capacities of the various units and examining the constraints they face.

It should be noted that the tax institution's target is 94 billion gourdes for 2026.
