iciHaiti - DR : 1,500 Haitians controlled, 796 deportees in Haiti

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) informs that several migration control operations were carried out on the Dominican territory in particular in 9 provinces (Azua, Barahona, Duarte, Espaillat, La Vega, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Rodriguez, Puerto Plata and Valverde).
The migratory control teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
Nearly 1,500 Haitians were controlled following intelligence work aimed at locating people in an irregular situation. 796 Haitians (53%) were declared irregular and taken to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña, to be registered and deported to Haiti.
The DGM informs that these operations will be extended to other provinces of the national territory, in order to continue the localization of Haitians and other foreigners in irregular migration situation in violation of the provisions of Law 285-04.
