As part of the celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Gender (25 November), the European Union (EU) reaffirmed its commitment to Haitian women and girls victims of violence.

Recalling that this violence was not only physical, but also exercised by denying women's right to economic opportunities, denying girls access to education, or limiting their participation in the political life. Emphasizing that violence against women and girls undermines the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, which must be achieved through the empowerment of women.

Furthermore, it should be recalled that the EU is implementing the Gender Action Plan (2016-2020) in Haiti, which identifies a set of priority axes and results-oriented actions in favor of equality between women and men and the empowerment of women" to transform the lives of girls and women.
