Saturday night at La Tremblay (Croix-des-Bouquets Commune, North of Port-au-Prince) during a routine anti-smuggling check, the Border Police (PoliFront) seized 5 trucks from Dominican Republic loaded of smuggled goods and proceeded to the arrest of 9 individuals (3 Dominicans and 6 Haitians).

According to Romell Bell, the Director General of the General Administration of Customs who reports the information, the goods transported were not taxed according to customs tariffs.

The PoliFront did not disclose the identity of the truck owners to not interfere with the investigation that was initiated and to avoid alerting other potential members of the smuggling ring.
