On Saturday, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Senators Jean Renel Sénatus and Patrice Dumond, Deputy Raymonde Rival, Ministers Fritz Caillot (Public Works), Jobert C. Angrand (Agriculture), Guito Édouard Director General of the National Directorate Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) and the mayor of the commune, Jean Balagel Bertho, went to the Commune of Cornillon Grand-Bois, (arrondissement of Croix-des-Bouquets), to assess the difficult situation and the various problems confronted by the population with a view to finding short-term solutions.

The Head of State met the religious authorities of the area and visited various public services (school, police station, health center) to discuss with officials their situation and collect their grievances.

The Deputy Raymonde Rival, welcomed various ongoing projects, including DINEPA infrastructure to supply the population with drinking water. On this point, it should be noted that "Food for the Poor" has joined forces with the efforts already made by DINEPA to move towards sustainable development, with the emergency construction of 3 large-scale drillings in Cornillon Grand-Bois https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27056-haiti-news-zapping.html

Minister Angrand, for his part, spoke of the ongoing distribution of seeds to farmers, the opening of the Communal Agricultural Office and provisions to accompany farmers. For his part Fritz Caillot, announced the implementation of various projects for the commune for the supply of drinking water and electricity.

Finally, a meeting was held at the town hall between the Head of State and the Municipal Council around the development of the commune. Moïse encouraged the planters to join together in a cooperative and announced the help of the National Council of Cooperatives, for the establishment of structures and organization.

It remains to be seen if these words and announcements will be followed by concrete actions for the population of Cornillon Grand-Bois.
