iciHaiti - Tennis : The Haitian-Japanese Naomi Osaka no longer #1 worldwide
Australia's Ashleigh Barty (23), who won the Roland-Garros tournament on June 8, took the lead of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) on Monday (June 24th) following her victory in the final at Birmingham on Sunday against Germany's Julia Görges.

Craig Tiley, the boss of the Australian Tennis Federation praised a "remarkable historical accomplishment [...] It's something really hard to achieve, it's just fantastic."

These two titles (Roland Garros and Birmingham) have allowed Ashleigh Barty, new world #1, to dethrone Naomi Osaka (21 years old), who has lost ground since her title at the Australian Open https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26767-haiti-flash-naomi-osaka-wins-the-australian-open.html and her separation with her coach.

Latest WTA World Ranking :

1 - Ashleigh Barty 6,540 points
2 - Naomi Osaka 6, 377 points (-163 points)
3 - Karolína Plíšková 5,685 points
4 - Kiki Bertens 5,425 points
5 - Angelique Kerber 4,685
