iciHaiti - DR : 84% of Haitians checked are illegal
The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) informs that it carried out, over a period of 4 days, migration control operations in the National District and in more than 20 districts and sectors of 10 Provinces : Espaillat, Mirabal Sisters, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Montecristi, Santo Domingo, Santiago de los Caballeros and Santiago Rodríguez in which 1,063 Haitian nationals were arrested and controlled.

After verification using biometric readers and the DGM’s central database, 890 (84%) were declared as irregular migrants and taken back to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña to be registered and deported to Haiti.

The migration teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the DGM with the support of the military, CESTUR and the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.

Note that for 2 months the deportations of Haitians controlled on Dominican territory increased by 10% in November and 12.5% in October, since Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of Migration, has been instructed to step up migration control operations in order to combat the presence of illegal aliens on Dominican soil, as well as to intervene in all places where the presence of people without papers is suspected and no longer just in the streets and public spaces.
