Given the current difficult economic situation in Haiti where rice occupies an important part in the household food basket and culture, this donation will help to stabilize prices and will improve access to basic food on the local market. Note that this donation is not limited only to the supply of rice, in fact, the Haitian Government will put the funds generated by the sale of this rice in reserve as a Counterpart Fund, which will be used later to finance social projects planned and carried out by the Haitian Government in agreement with the Japanese Government.
