iciHaiti - Politic : Free birth certificates, billed by registrars

Following numerous user complaints about the cost required to obtain a birth certificate, Jean Roudy Aly, the Minister of Justice reminds civil state officers throughout the national territory that the supply of this document is FREE.

Text of the circular :

"The Ministry of Justice and Public Security, alarmed by the numerous complaints received from users of public services in communes and districts of the country regarding the cost required for the delivery of the first shipment of birth certificates, believes imperative to remind the civil state officers, that in execution of the Presidential Order, dated November 13, 2019, aiming to provide all citizens with an act of birth, they are under obligation to grant these acts free of charge.

Consequently, the Government Commissioners to the Courts of First Instance of the 18 jurisdictions of the Republic are required, upon receipt of this letter, to take all the measures necessary for the strict application of the laws and regulations governing the matter.

Jean Roudy Aly

Justice Ministry."
