iciHaiti - Environment : «Our solutions are in nature»

As part of the World Day for Biological Diversity (May 22) and the 27th anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity which allows the various actors involved in the conservation of natural resources to share their vision on the management of this common heritage Pradel Henriquez, the Minister of Communication wished to raise awareness of the importance of all forms of life including the wide range of plants, animals and microorganisms found in the spaces of national heritage sites of Haiti such as the National Historic Park-Citadel, Sans-Souci, Ramiers (PNH-CSSR) classified World Heritage in 1982 by UNESCO, the Parc National of Forts Jacques and Alexandre and all our natural sites and areas protected classified in the register of cultural and natural heritage.

Minister Henriquez recalled that his Ministry through the Heritage Preservation and Tourism Sector Support Project (PAST), undertook an inventory of flora and fauna within the Historic National Park: Citadel, Sans-Souci, Ramiers (PNH-CSSR) whose flagship is the Citadel of King Henry in Cap-Haitien (North Dept.).

This World Day celebrated around the theme "Our solutions are in nature" is a call to action to combat the accelerating loss of species and the degradation of the environment.

Henriquez insisted on solidarity and commitment to preserve and conserve species and ecosystems, with a view to the sustainable management and use of our biological resources. Recalling, given the unprecedented scale of the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30847-haiti-covid-19-daily-report-may-23-2020.html the fragility of the link that unites man with his environment emphasizing "We must protect nature, by adopting new behaviors relating to waste management, by developing a commitment to rebuild better, just as we must take care of ourselves in this difficult time. Protecting biodiversity means preserving nature, thus preserving people and health. "
