iciHaiti - Diaspora Canada : Tribute from the Embassy of Haiti to the BCHM of Montreal
The Embassy of Haiti in Canada again this year, is pleased to honor a group of institutions and personalities of the Haitian community who have contributed through their achievements and contributions to the advancement of Haitian communities in the different provinces of Canada, to strengthen relations between Canada and Haiti, while projecting a positive image of Haiti.

Tribute to the Montreal Haitian Community Office :
Since its creation on November 12, 1972, the Office of the Christian Community of Haitians of Montreal, which became the Office of the Haitian Community of Montreal (BCHM), has actively participated in the socio-economic life of this city. Concerned about the serious problems of compatriots living illegally in Quebec, the BCHM has put itself at the service of the community and has done remarkable work in supporting Haitian immigrants. At the same time, he has developed great expertise in this field.

During its 50 years of existence, the organization has expanded its services to extend them to various immigrant communities, mainly racialized and racialized ones in Greater Montreal and surrounding areas. The BCHM works with families, particularly those from ethnocultural communities, to help them develop support networks and participate with dignity in the life of the community.

The Office has established itself as an important player in the ecosystem of social protection in populations from diverse backgrounds. Its services range from the discrimination experienced by Haitian taxi drivers to the overrepresentation of black children in the youth protection system, including the reception of asylum seekers.

Some BCHM achievements have been recognized as important innovations, including social programs such as : "Coming from elsewhere and aging here", which helps to break the isolation of seniors and keep them active; "Respect without borders", which aims to promote healthy relationships in the environment of young people; "Involved dad, balanced child", which equips fathers in black communities for harmonious co-parenting; "Protection Option", which contributes to the fight against the overrepresentation of black children in protective settings.
